Romuald Wadagni, the Finance Minister of Benin, has secured a landslide victory in the nation’s presidential election, according to provisional results released early Tuesday.

Data from the electoral commission (CENA) indicates that Wadagni captured 94 per cent of the vote, confirming his status as the clear favourite throughout the campaign.

Romuald Kossi Mbueke WADAGNI and Mariam CHABI TALATA: 4,252,347 votes, or 94.05% (winner).

Paul HOUNKPE and Rock Judicaël HOUNWANOU: 269,433 votes, or 05.95%.

The newly elected leader will succeed outgoing President Patrice Talon, who endorsed Wadagni during the race.
