United States President Donald Trump said he was putting on hold a planned military strike against Iran scheduled for Tuesday, following requests from Gulf leaders and ongoing “serious negotiations” with Tehran.

In a post on his Truth Social platform on Monday, Trump said he had decided to “hold off on our planned Military attack of the Islamic Republic of Iran, which was scheduled for tomorrow.”

He said the decision followed appeals from the leaders of Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, who believe the talks could lead to a breakthrough.

According to him, the Gulf states are optimistic that “a deal will be made” that would ensure “NO NUCLEAR WEAPONS FOR IRAN.”

Trump added that he had already informed the US military to stand down on the planned strike, but warned that the operation remained on standby.

He said he had directed the military to be ready for a “full, large-scale assault” on Iran “on a moment’s notice” if negotiations collapse.

The US president had issued a series of escalating warnings in recent days, including a statement that “the clock is ticking” and that Iran could face severe consequences if no agreement is reached.

The US and Israel have been engaged in hostilities with Iran since strikes began in late February, with efforts to reach a broader settlement so far yielding limited progress.

Reports from Iranian media on Sunday said Washington had submitted a five-point proposal in recent talks, including demands that Iran restrict nuclear activity to a single facility and transfer its enriched uranium stockpile to US custody.

Tehran, meanwhile, has insisted it will maintain control over the Strait of Hormuz, a key global energy route, despite tensions.

Iran has also announced plans for a new authority to monitor developments in the strait and provide real-time updates on operations in the waterway.
