Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has congratulated his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, on securing the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket ahead of the 2027 election in the state.
In a post on his X (formerly Twitter) page, on Friday after the party’s direct primary election, Sanwo-Olu said Hamzat’s win reflected the confidence APC members and Lagos residents have in his leadership.

The governor also commended party members for what he described as their peaceful conduct, loyalty and unity during the exercise.
Sanwo-Olu said he believed Hamzat’s vision for Lagos would contribute to the continued growth and development of the state for the benefit of residents.
“Congratulations to my brother and Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, on emerging as the APC Lagos Governorship candidate for the 2027 elections.
“We have worked side by side for years and I know firsthand his deep love for Lagosians, his brilliance, and his unwavering dedication to progress, ” Sanwo-Olu said.
He noted that the large turnout of party supporters across polling centres showed strong backing for Hamzat and confidence in his ability to build on the achievements of the current administration.
“The work ahead is massive, but with Femi, I am absolutely confident that our state will reach even greater heights.
“Let us stay united and keep moving Lagos forward,” the governor added.
Hamzat’s win makes him the APC candidate in the race to succeed Sanwo-Olu as Lagos governor in 2027.
