Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shettima has returned to the country after representing President Bola Tinubu at the inauguration ceremony of Benin Republic’s President, Romuald Wadagni.
Shettima returned to Nigeria on Saturday afternoon and proceeded to the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja, where the All Progressives Congress (APC) is set to declare Tinubu its 2027 presidential candidate.
News Central TV gathered that Shettima arrived at the ICC around 3 pm on Sunday, where he was welcomed by other party members.

The APC has yet to officially declare Tinubu its presidential candidate as results are still being collated at press time. Results from more than 20 states, announced at the time of publication, indicate that Tinubu is leading by a landslide and has secured an early victory over his opponent, Stanley Osifo.
Tinubu has yet to name his running mate for the 2025 election, but in 2025, there were unverified rumours that he would select a new one, with some claiming that Tinubu would select a Northern Christian to replace Shettima.
Shettima had also alleged that some individuals from Borno State attempted to turn Tinubu against him by telling the President that he wanted him dead during the 2023 presidential election. However, he said Tinubu dismissed the rumours and paid no attention to the plotters.
