U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Friday that he is making a final decision on whether or not to sign a peace treaty with Iran.
Trump shared the update in a lengthy social media post, confirming an immediate meeting with officials in the Situation Room to make his final determination.
The president stressed that any potential agreement hinges on strict concessions from Tehran, explicitly demanding that Iran permanently abandon its nuclear weapons ambitions and open the blockaded Strait of Hormuz shipping lanes.
In his post, Trump outlined specific terms of the potential agreement, stating that Iran must immediately remove all maritime mines from the strait.
In return, the United States would lift its naval blockade on Iranian ports to allow oil and cargo tankers to resume movement.
However, the announcement left it unclear whether Iran has formally agreed to these terms or if the U.S. military has already begun easing the blockade ahead of Trump’s final verdict.

The president also specified an aggressive denuclearisation process, declaring that the United States, the International Atomic Energy Agency, and Iran would jointly unearth and destroy all of Iran’s enriched uranium stockpiles.
Addressing recent rumours regarding financial compensation for the war or potential White House investments, Trump firmly stated that no money will change hands until further notice.
He concluded by noting that negotiators have so far only agreed upon items of far less importance.
