United States President Donald Trump has said he has cancelled planned military strikes against Iran after negotiations were elevated to the highest levels of Iranian leadership, signalling a dramatic diplomatic breakthrough that could reshape the geopolitical landscape of the Middle East.

In a statement released on his social media platform, Truth, Trump confirmed that discussions had been approved at the top of the Iranian government, prompting him to stand down what would have been a significant military operation.

“Based on the fact that discussions with the Islamic Republic of Iran have been brought to the highest level of Iranian leadership and approved, I have, as President of the United States of America, cancelled the scheduled strikes and bombings against Iran this evening,” Trump wrote.

The announcement represents a sharp pivot from the brink of open conflict, with Trump revealing that a broad coalition of regional and global powers has aligned behind the terms of a prospective agreement.

The deal, described as approved “in both concept and great detail,” encompasses not only the United States but also key regional heavyweights including Israel, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Turkey, Pakistan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, and Egypt, a striking display of multilateral consensus in a region rarely short of competing interests.

Despite the ceasefire in diplomatic tensions, Trump made clear that economic and military pressure will not be eased prematurely.

“The naval blockade will remain in full force and effect until this transaction is finalised,” he said, signalling that Washington intends to maintain maximum leverage until a formal agreement is signed.

The timing and location of the signing ceremony are yet to be confirmed, with Trump noting only that details would be “announced shortly.”

If the deal holds and the signing proceeds as suggested, it would represent a defining foreign policy moment, not only for the Trump administration but for the broader architecture of Middle Eastern security.
