The Recording Academy announced on Tuesday that the 2027 Grammy Awards will feature five new categories alongside revised rules for the Best New Artist prize.
Following feedback from its voting members, the academy will introduce awards for Best Asian Pop Music Performance, Best R&B Collaboration Performance, Best Traditional Pop Vocal Performance, Best Traditional Folk Album, and Best Latin Song.
The academy also updated its eligibility rules to increase the maximum number of submissions for the Best New Artist category from three to four.
This adjustment opens up fresh opportunities for rising performers who previously exhausted their eligibility under the old limits.
In past years, breakout stars like Olivia Rodrigo, Chappell Roan, and Olivia Dean won this highly coveted trophy.

Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. stated that these member-driven changes reflect the vast breadth of the modern music industry and celebrate the diverse creators driving music forward.
The music industry will gather to debut these updates at the annual awards show in Los Angeles in February.
