The President Bola Tinubu administration has expanded access to potable water across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), extending supply beyond the city centre to satellite communities.
This was reiterated by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike during the inauguration of the water project in Bwari Area Council on Tuesday.
Wike said the project fulfilled a directive issued by Tinubu to ensure residents of satellite towns also benefited from improved water infrastructure.
According to the minister, the President gave the directive during the commissioning of the Abuja City Water Supply project in 2024.
“Sometimes last year, during the second anniversary of Mr. President, when he commissioned the Abuja city water, Mr. President mandated that this must be taken to the satellite towns,” Wike said.
“And we promised that by 2026, to God be the glory, we’ll also give to AMAC.”
He noted that the FCT Administration had already commissioned a satellite town water supply project in Karu and surrounding communities.

“By the grace of God, probably last week, the Vice President represented Mr. President in commissioning the satellite town water supply in Karu and all other communities along those areas of the AMAC city. Today, we are here for the one in Bwari Area Council,” he said.
Wike said the projects demonstrate that the Tinubu administration is investing in more than road construction.
“Since the assumption of Mr. President in office in 2023, he has been able to provide water for the centre, provide water for the satellite towns in Karu and other communities, and also provide water for Bwari.”
“Let people know that we are not only concentrating on roads; we are also making sure other sectors are being touched. That’s why we are here.”
The minister also noted the ongoing road infrastructure projects in Bwari Area Council, saying major roads in Ushafa had already been completed and commissioned.
“Since Mr. President came on board, virtually all the roads in Ushafa, in Bwari Area Council, have been completed, which were commissioned last year.”
He added that another major road project linking Bwari and Kubwa would be completed before the end of the year.
“By the grace of God, before the end of this year, we’ll also commission the 17-kilometre Bwari-to-Kubwa road,” Wike said.
He described the large turnout of residents at the event as evidence of public satisfaction with the projects.
