Qatar has condemned Iranian attacks on Jordan, Bahrain and Kuwait, warning that the strikes threaten regional security, global energy supplies and ongoing diplomatic efforts to ease tensions in the Middle East.
In a statement issued by its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Doha described the attacks, including the reported targeting of the Kuwaiti tanker Kaifan while transiting the Strait of Hormuz, as a “flagrant violation” of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the three countries.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs considers the attacks as a ‘flagrant violation’ of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the three countries, posing a serious threat to maritime security and global energy supplies, and breaching international law, the UN Charter and the principles of good neighborliness,” the statement said.
Qatar warned that continued military action could derail efforts to contain the conflict and undermine diplomatic initiatives aimed at restoring stability.
“The continued attacks represent a grave escalation that could undermine efforts to contain regional tensions and weaken political and diplomatic initiatives aimed at achieving security and stability,” the ministry said.
Doha called for an immediate end to hostilities, urging all parties to return to negotiations.
“Qatar calls for an immediate and complete halt to all military actions and attacks threatening regional security, urging all parties to avoid further escalation, return to dialogue and negotiations, and uphold understandings reached through diplomatic efforts,” the statement added.
The Gulf state also reaffirmed its support for Jordan, Bahrain and Kuwait, saying it stood firmly behind any measures they take to protect their sovereignty and national security.
Qatar’s statement follows a sharp escalation in the conflict between Iran and the United States and its regional partners.
In recent days, Iran has launched missile and drone attacks against targets in Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan, while incidents at sea have disrupted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most strategically important maritime chokepoints for oil and liquefied natural gas exports.
The reported strike on the Kuwaiti tanker Kaifan has heightened concerns over maritime security and the stability of global energy markets.
The Strait of Hormuz carries roughly one-fifth of the world’s seaborne oil trade, making any disruption a major concern for energy-importing and exporting countries alike.
The latest attacks have prompted several Gulf states to condemn Iran’s actions while renewing calls for de-escalation, as fears grow that a wider regional conflict could further disrupt energy supplies, international shipping and diplomatic efforts to end the crisis.
