Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane has won the men’s Ballon d’Or for the first time, ending England’s 25-year wait for the prestigious award.

The 33-year-old received the honour on Monday at the 70th Ballon d’Or ceremony in London.

Kane scored 73 goals in 65 games for club and country during the 2025–26 season. His goals helped Bayern Munich win the league and cup double. He also helped England reach the World Cup semi-finals.

Speaking at the ceremony, Kane thanked his Bayern Munich teammates for their support and competition.

“Without you guys and the rest of the team, it wouldn’t be possible, the way you guys push me, the way we compete. So thank you very much,” he said.

Kane also led England to their best World Cup finish since winning the tournament in 1966.

The last English player to win the men’s Ballon d’Or was Michael Owen in 2001. Kane’s victory ends the long wait for another English winner.
