African Democratic Congress (ADC) vice-presidential candidate Rotimi Amaechi has accused President Bola Tinubu’s administration on Wednesday of being the most corrupt in the country’s history.

Amaechi also alleged that borrowed funds are being diverted rather than used for development.

Speaking at his campaign launch alongside the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, Amaechi said the current political landscape is defined by economic suffering rather than identity politics.

“Today, there is no religion in the current politics. There is no ethnicity. It’s about cost of living. It’s about hunger. It’s about poverty,” he said.

He directed sharp criticism at the president, stating that Tinubu was unprepared for leadership.

“I didn’t know that our president, Bola Tinubu, was not ready. The only thing that he was ready is that his government is the most corrupt government Nigeria has ever produced. Most corrupt,” Amaechi said.

“To the point where he borrows money to steal, not to borrow money to do anything.”

Amaechi also challenged citizens to evaluate their current standard of living against the previous administration of Muhammadu Buhari.

“I say to Nigerians, all those who say, oh, you don’t like Buhari? Compare your life when Buhari was president and now. Which is better?” he asked.
