Thirteen people sustained injuries on Friday when a Mazda bus suffered a tyre burst and slammed into a concrete barrier along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State.
The crash occurred around 12:30 pm in the Remo North Local Government Area, as the vehicle carried 18 occupants inward toward Lagos.
According to the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), the impact flipped the bus before it hit the barrier, which prevented it from plunging into a deep ditch.
Emergency personnel from TRACE and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) evacuated the victims—comprising two men, eight women, and three children—to three nearby hospitals.
The accident prompted public outcry after Nollywood actor Kunle Afod posted a video on Instagram appealing to the Ogun State Government and emergency services for immediate help.

“It’s a terrible accident we came across on the way along the Ibadan–Shagamu Expressway right now, and it’s so sad that for about 20 minutes that we’ve been here, there has been no ambulance, no emergency services to come and help them,” Afod said.
TRACE spokesperson Akinbiyi Babatunde later confirmed that rescue teams successfully cleared the scene without disrupting traffic, while hospital officials subsequently treated and discharged four of the injured victims.
