Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz claimed his first Paris Masters title on Sunday, defeating Ben Shelton 7-6 (7/5), 7-5 to earn a measure of revenge after his US Open loss to the American earlier this season.
The 23-year-old Spaniard showcased exceptional reflex returns and steady composure across the two-hour final, securing his ninth ATP Masters 1000 crown.
Former champion Boris Becker presented the trophy to Alcaraz, who extended his winning streak to nine matches following his recent victory in Vienna.

Shelton pushed the world number three in a tightly contested opening set, forcing a tie-break where a late forehand error ultimately handed Alcaraz the lead.
Although Shelton secured the match’s first service break in the second set, Alcaraz immediately elevated his defence to level the score at four-all.

Servicing to force a second tie-break, Shelton yielded under intense pressure as Alcaraz closed out the championship with a flicked backhand winner.
The victory marks Alcaraz’s fifth tour-level title of the season, positioning him as a primary favourite heading into the ATP Finals in Turin from November 15–22.
Shelton, despite missing out on a third Masters 1000 trophy, moves to world number four after reaching his third career Masters final.
