Ivory Coast, Morocco Book AFCON Tickets

The Elephants of Cote D’Ivoire and the Atlas Lions of Morocco on Friday became the 15th and 16th team respectively to book their African Cup of Nations tickets.

Ivory Coast trounced Niger Republic 3-0 in Niamey in a game skipper, as Serge Aurier showed like a million stars, nicking a goal and two assists.

Morocco qualified after Burundi played a 2-2 draw against Central African Republic in Bujumbura, throwing away a 2-goal lead in the game. The North Africans are far and ahead of others in the pile, as they sit six points above second-placed Mauritania.

Cape Verde also defeated Cameroon 3-1 in Praia but will have to finish the job in their last game, with Rwanda breathing down their necks.

Senegal who have already advanced to the continental showpiece played out a goalless draw against AFCON-chasing Republic of Congo in Brazzaville.

Congo will have to wait until the final day of the qualifiers to know where they stand, although, their fate is in their hands.
