One of the worshippers abducted during the Easter weekend attack on Ariko Community in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Tanimu Ate, has escaped after spending four months in captivity.
News Central gathered that Ate fled from the kidnappers’ camp and spent four days wandering through the Rijana Forest before he was found by individuals who helped him to safety.
He is currently receiving medical treatment at an undisclosed hospital following his ordeal.
Ate was among dozens of worshippers kidnapped when gunmen attacked Ariko Community during the Easter period.
The attack left seven people dead, and several others abducted, causing outrage and renewed concerns over insecurity in southern Kaduna.
Following the attack, Nigerian troops launched rescue operations that led to the release of 31 abducted worshippers.
It remains unclear whether other victims are still being held by the kidnappers.
The Rijana Forest, which stretches along the Kaduna-Abuja corridor, has long been identified as a hideout for armed criminal groups responsible for kidnappings and other violent attacks in the region.
Authorities have yet to comment officially on Ate’s escape or provide an update on efforts to rescue any remaining captives.
