A High Court judge abducted in Kebbi State one week ago has been released and returned home safely, a family member disclosed on Monday.
Justice Faruku Hassan Bunza arrived home a few hours ago after spending seven days in captivity, the relative said.
“We are in jubilation and full of gratitude to God for seeing our own return safely from captivity,” the family member said.
“He was just released and has returned home now after spending one week with the bandits.”
The family expressed gratitude to the Kebbi State Judiciary, security agencies and residents of the state for their support during the ordeal.
“We sincerely thank and appreciate the Kebbi State Judiciary, the security agencies, and the entire people of Kebbi State who contributed in different ways, offered prayers, and sent messages of sympathy,” the relative said.
“Your concern and support gave us strength, and we are grateful for your solidarity.”
The source said further details on the circumstances of the release would be disclosed later, but did not say whether a ransom was paid.
