The Yobe State faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dismissed claims of an alliance with the state chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Malam Umar Alhaji, the chairman of the Yobe State chapter of the ADC, in a statement issued on Wednesday, accused Muhammad Jawa of attempting to sow political discord within the ADC.
“The alleged publication credited to Jawa did not represent the position of the party leadership in the state,” said Alhaji.
“At no time has the leadership aligned with the APC as falsely alleged.”
The denial follows Jawa’s comments during a stakeholders’ meeting in Damaturu on Saturday, where he claimed that ADC members across the 17 local government areas of the state had resolved to align with the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.

The chairman urged the public and supporters of the party to disregard the publication, describing it as “false, malicious and intended to create division within the party.”
Alhaji also questioned Jawa’s political credibility, alleging that his past political activities have continued to raise concerns among party members.
He added that Jawa’s appointment as the Special Assistant to Governor Mai Mala Buni, while he retains links with the ADC, raised suspicion among stakeholders about what the party described as divided loyalty to the two ruling and opposition parties in Yobe State.
Alhaji further alleged that Jawa maintains close ties with the Obidient Movement.
