Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has urged residents to promptly report suspicious movements and unfamiliar persons in their communities to security agencies following reported plans to attack places of worship in the state.
The governor, in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, called on residents, particularly those in border communities, to alert security agencies to any unusual influx of people or activities.
Adeleke said residents must provide security agencies with timely intelligence on noticeable threats in their communities, urging them to remain vigilant in response to the alleged plans.
“As we are aware of alleged plots to attack our places of worship, we must become extra vigilant. Report anything unusual without any delay,” the governor was quoted as saying.
He commended the Department of State Services (DSS) for taking what he described as proactive measures to counter the threats and directed other security agencies to review the situation and develop action plans to strengthen the security of lives and property.

“I commend the Department of State Service (DSS) for taking proactive measures to counter the threats. I charge other security agencies to review the situation and develop an action plan to strengthen security of lives and properties,” Adeleke said.
The governor also said he would convene a State Security Council meeting to assess the situation and review the state’s response plans.
Adeleke further urged residents to be cautious about people they accommodate in their communities and called on traditional rulers to convene meetings of their traditional councils to discuss the security concerns.
He said the state must work with security agencies through information sharing to prevent threats to public safety.
“We must nip in the bud the evil plans of enemies of public peace,” Adeleke said.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to post-election peace-building and called for stronger security measures to prevent terrorists and bandits from disrupting public peace in the state.
