Aniekan Uko, Special Adviser on Legislative Affairs to the Governor of Akwa Ibom Umo Eno, has resigned from his position to pursue his political ambition.
Uko, a former Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly who represented Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area, confirmed his decision in a resignation letter to the governor, stating that he intends to focus on future opportunities aligned with his goals.
In the letter, he expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve but explained that changing circumstances required him to step down. He added that he remains willing to support the administration in other capacities and wished the governor continued success.
Sources indicate that the former legislator may be preparing to contest for a national legislative seat in the House of Representatives, often referred to as the Green Chamber.

Earlier, Governor Eno had cautioned political appointees against leaving their posts to contest elective positions, noting that existing State and National Assembly members had been promised automatic return tickets following their defection with him to the All Progressives Congress in June 2025.
However, authorities later shelved the arrangement after protests from aggrieved aspirants, who argued that the move undermined democratic principles, zoning arrangements, and the electorate’s right to choose their representatives.
