Seven-time Grand Slam champion Carlos Alcaraz announced on Thursday that he will return to action at the US Open to defend his title.

The 22-year-old Spaniard has spent the past four months recovering from a right wrist injury that he suffered at the Barcelona Open in mid-April.

Alcaraz confirmed his long-awaited return in a social media video, telling fans, “I’m back. Here we go.”

The injury forced Alcaraz to miss major milestones in the tennis calendar, including Roland Garros—where he was the two-time defending champion—and Wimbledon.

His absence also followed a stellar start to the year, during which he became the youngest man to complete a career Grand Slam by winning the Australian Open in January, followed by an ATP title in Doha in February.

Despite pulling out of Cincinnati earlier this week and sparking concerns over his fitness, Alcaraz has regained the world No. 2 ranking ahead of Alexander Zverev.
