Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has arrived in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, to support the African Democratic Congress(ADC) governorship candidate, Najeem Salaam, ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
Atiku announced his arrival in a post on X(formerly Twitter) on Monday, saying he was in the state with a delegation of political associates for the ADC’s grand finale campaign rally.

He said the delegation had come to support Salaam and make a final appeal to Osun voters ahead of the poll.
“I have arrived in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, alongside a delegation of political associates, to stand with our governorship candidate, Dr Najeem Folasayo Salaam (Iwaloye), and our great party, the African Democratic Congress (ADC), at the grand finale of our campaign ahead of Saturday’s governorship election,” he said.
Atiku said the ADC was seeking the mandate of the people to provide purposeful leadership, good governance and a better future for residents of the state.
“We are here to rally support for our candidate and make a final appeal to the people of Osun State to entrust the ADC with the responsibility of delivering purposeful leadership, good governance and a better future for all,” he added.
The Osun governorship election is scheduled for Saturday, August 15, with ADC’s Salaam among the leading candidates alongside the Accord Party’s incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke and the APC candidate, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji.
The election has generated heightened political activity in the state, with the major contenders intensifying their campaigns ahead of the poll. INEC has said it is ready for the election, while security agencies have stepped up preparations to ensure a peaceful electoral process.
