Here is a profile of the governorship candidates, their political backgrounds, professional experience and the platforms on which they are contesting.
Ademola Adeleke
Political party: Accord Party.
Age: 66.
Incumbent Governor of Osun State, seeking re-election in the 2026 Osun governorship election.
He was sworn into office on 27 November 2022. Born on 13 May 1960 in Enugu, he hails from Ede, Ede North Local Government Area of Osun State.
Adeleke previously served one term as Senator, representing Osun West Senatorial District from 2017 to 2019.
Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji
Political party: All Progressives Congress.
Age: 60.
Born on 17 November 1965 in Ikire, Irewole Local Government Area of Osun State, Oyebamiji is a banker, public administrator and politician.
He studied Banking and Finance at The Polytechnic, Ibadan, and holds Master’s degrees from Lagos State University and the University of Ado-Ekiti.
A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN), he has served as Osun State Commissioner for Finance, Managing Director/CEO of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), and Special Adviser to the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy.
Najeem Folasayo Salaam
Political party: African Democratic Congress (ADC)
Age: 60.
A former two-term Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, he is a political scientist with a Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD in Political Science from Obafemi Awolowo University.
Born on 8 August 1965 and hails from Ejigbo, Osun State. Salaam entered partisan politics in 1999 and has built a career spanning public service, academia and agriculture.
Olanrewaju Farinloye
Political party: Action Alliance (AA).
Age: 40
His campaign is anchored on technology-driven governance, entrepreneurship, agriculture, industrialisation and infrastructure development. Farinloye says his administration would focus on innovation, job creation and sustainable economic growth to improve the lives of Osun residents.
Adesina Olusanya Adeyemi-Doro
Political party: All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA)
Age: 40
An entrepreneur with a Master’s degree in Industrial and Labour Relations from the University of Lagos, Adeyemi-Doro has a professional background in healthcare management, insurance, business development and human capital administration.
He says his administration would prioritise quality education, accessible healthcare and agricultural revitalisation to drive sustainable development across Osun State.
