The Government of the Republic of Benin has officially announced a new cabinet under President Romuald Wadagni on Sunday, May 24, with appointments across key sectors, including finance, security, education, health, communication, and digital innovation.

The newly announced cabinet includes ministers for justice, finance, foreign affairs, defence, health, education, agriculture, communication, trade, and digital transformation, among others.

The announcement, released by the Benin government on Saturday, introduces ministers and senior officials expected to drive the country’s development agenda and strengthen governance.

The cabinet members and their positions are:

  • Yvon Detchenou — Minister of Justice and Legislation
  • Aristide Medenou  — Minister of Economy and Finance, in charge of Cooperation
  • Corinne Amori Brunet — Minister of Foreign Affairs
  • Djibril Mama Cisse Moussa  — Minister attached to the Presidency in charge of the Interior and Public Security
  • Gildas Agonkan — Minister attached to the Presidency in charge of National Defence
  • Olushegun Adjadi Bakari — Minister of Tourism and External Trade, in charge of Industry and Investment Promotion
  • Adin Yeton Bloukon Goubalan — Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries
  • Benjamin Ignace Bodounrin Hounkpatin — Minister of Health
  • Sédami Medegan Fagla — Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in charge of Technical Training
  • Clément Kouchade — Minister of Secondary Education

  • Armand Kuyema Natta — Minister of Nursery and Primary Education
  • Véronique Tognifode — Minister of Family and Social Affairs
  • Janvier Yahouédéou — Minister of Decentralisation and Local Governance
  • Yassine Latoundji — Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage
  • Shadiya Alimatou Assouman — Minister of Internal Trade, in charge of the Informal Economy
  • Mahuna Akplogan — Minister of Digital Transformation and Innovation, in charge of the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy
  • Edouard Dahome — Minister of Energy, Water and Mines
  • Georges Ale — Minister of Living Environment and Transport, in charge of Sustainable Development
  • Awaou Baco — Minister of Small and Medium Enterprises and Employment Promotion, in charge of Professional Training
  • Aurélie Adam Soule Zoumarou — Minister of Communication and Media
  • Benoît K. M. Dato — Minister of Sports and Civic Engagement
  • Nicolas Yenoussi — Minister attached to the Presidency in charge of Finance and Microfinance
  • Rodrigue Chaou — Minister attached to the Presidency in charge of Economy and Public Budget
  • Hugues Oscar Lokossou — Minister attached to the Presidency in charge of Economy and Finance, responsible for mobilising external resources and debt management

The cabinet also reflects Benin’s focus on economic growth, digital transformation, education reform, public security, and infrastructure development as the new administration begins work.
