The Benue State Government has announced the death of its Head of Service, Agbogbo Ode, who died in the early hours of Saturday, May 2, 2026, following a brief illness.
This was contained in a statement issued on Saturday by the Secretary to the State Government, Serumun Deborah Aber.
The government said it received the news with deep sadness, describing Ode as a central figure in the state civil service whose professionalism and contributions to public administration would be remembered.
“It is with deep sadness and regret that the Benue State Government announces the death of Dr. Agbogbo Ode, the Head of Service of Benue State.

“His sudden demise took place on Saturday, 2nd May, 2026, after a brief illness.”
It noted that his “ credible and dependable authority in matters of public service, as well as his hard work, brilliance and immense contributions to the State Civil Service will forever be missed.”
The statement also described him as an “impeccable technocrat and highly respected authority in public service.”
The government extended condolences to his family, colleagues, and the wider civil service, describing his death as a significant loss to the state.
