Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes was named Premier League Player of the Season on Saturday.
Fernandes matched the Premier League record for most assists in a single season with 20, a tally shared with players Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne, while also contributing eight league goals.
His performances were key to Manchester United’s strong season under head coach Michael Carrick, with the club finishing third and securing Champions League qualification.
The Portuguese midfielder became the first Manchester United player to win the award since Nemanja Vidic in the 2010-11 season.

He beat competition from Arsenal players David Raya, Gabriel Magalhães and Declan Rice, Manchester City striker Erling Haaland, Brentford’s Igor Thiago, Antoine Semenyo, and Nottingham Forest captain Morgan Gibbs-White.
Fernandes had earlier also been named Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year.
In the same awards cycle, Manchester City defender Nico O’Reilly was named Premier League Young Player of the Season.
O’Reilly, who featured across defence and midfield, scored five goals and provided three assists in a breakthrough campaign.
He also scored twice in City’s League Cup final win over Arsenal and started in their FA Cup final victory against Chelsea.
Other nominees for the young player award included Rayan Cherki, Mateus Fernandes, Lewis Hall, Michael Kayode, Kobbie Mainoo, Alex Scott and Eli Junior Kroupi.
