The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has released activists Peter Akah, popularly known as Randy Peter and Precious Oruche, popularly known as Mama Pee, after questioning them for several hours at its headquarters in Abuja.
The duo, who honoured an invitation from the anti-graft agency, were released shortly after midnight on Wednesday and directed to return to the commission’s office on Thursday, according to fellow activist Justice Cracks.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), social media influencer Justice Chidiebere, popularly known as Justice Cracks, said he accompanied the activists to the EFCC headquarters at about 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday and remained with them throughout the lengthy process.

He said they were allowed to leave after spending about 11 hours at the commission’s office and were asked to return the following day.
He also shared a video from the EFCC headquarters while waiting for the activists.
Earlier, concerns had grown over the pair’s whereabouts after Esther Umoh, who served as a campaign photographer for current National Democratic Congress presidential candidate Peter Obi in the 2023 election, disclosed on X that they had not been released several hours after honouring the EFCC invitation.
. @MamaPee__ and @Peter4Nigeria were invited by the EFCC in Abuja, and as respectful citizens, they honored the invitation today. But as I type this, they are yet to be released by the commission.

The prolonged questioning fuelled speculation on social media that the activists had been arrested.
However, Justice Cracks later confirmed that both had been released and would return to the EFCC headquarters as requested.
The EFCC has not disclosed the reason for inviting the activists.
