The Kano State Ministry of Education has announced an Eid-el-Kabir holiday for all primary and secondary schools in the state. 

In a statement on Wednesday by the Director of Public Enlightenment, Misbahu Yakasai, the ministry said boarding schools will close from Saturday, May 23, 2026, and resume on Sunday, May 31, 2026, while day schools are to begin their break on Friday, May 22, 2026, and reopen on Monday, June 1, 2026.

The ministry urged parents and guardians to ensure the timely pickup of their wards and their return at the end of the holiday period, stressing adherence to the approved schedule.

“Parents and guardians of students in boarding schools are advised to pick up their children on the approved closing date, Saturday, May 23, 2026 and ensure their timely return on the resumption date,” the statement said.

Commissioner for Education, Ali Makoda, also extended goodwill messages to students, teachers, parents, and the wider education community, wishing them a peaceful Eid celebration.
