Gunmen Attack Police Base in Kwara

At least three police officers are feared killed after gunmen attacked a Police Mobile Force (PMF) camp in Tenebo community, Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The attack occurred in the early hours of Saturday and triggered panic in the community, forcing residents to flee their homes. 

A resident, Suleiman Issa, said the incident happened around 1 am, adding that armed men invaded the village in large numbers, killing some residents and leaving others injured.

“These ugly killings happened at the early hours of 1 am, just at midnight in Tenebo village, Kaiama.

“Bandits came in their large numbers and invaded the villagers, people were killed and some were wounded,” Issa said.

The spokesperson for the Kwara State Police Command, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, confirmed the attack, saying further details would be released after verification.

“I regret to confirm that an attack on the PMF Camp occurred in the early hours of today. I will provide more accurate and detailed information shortly. Thank you,” he said.

The latest incident adds to a series of violent attacks in Kaiama Local Government Area, where armed groups have repeatedly targeted communities and security formations in recent weeks.
