The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Disu, has appointed CSP Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu as the new Force Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), replacing DCP Anthony Okon Placid, who took over the position barely three months ago.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Friday via NPF’s official X account.
The appointment comes just three months after Placid assumed office in March 2026, succeeding Benjamin Hundeyin.

According to the statement, Iniedu is an experienced officer with a strong background in communication, intelligence, operational policing, and public relations.
He hails from Etinan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Pure Chemistry from the University of Uyo.

The statement noted that Iniedu has undergone several professional trainings in investigative interviewing, crime scene management, human rights policing, strategic communication, and intelligence analysis.
Before his appointment, he served as Head of the Complaint Response Unit at Force Headquarters in Abuja, where he handled public complaints and promoted transparency and accountability within the police system.
He also held several key roles across the country, including: Operations Officer at Maisandari Division, Yobe State, Area Crime Officer, Umuahia Area Command, Abia State, Staff Officer at the IGP Secretariat, Force Headquarters, Second-in-Command, 50 Police Mobile Force Squadron, Kubwa and Officer-in-Charge of the Force Headquarters Situation Room.
Also, Iniedu was a Public Relations Officer at the Police College of Information Technology in Kobape, Ogun State.
The Inspector-General expressed confidence that his experience will strengthen the Force’s communication strategy and improve public engagement in ongoing police reforms.
