Joheirry Mola of the Dominican Republic has been crowned Miss World 2026 at the grand finale of the 73rd competition, held on Saturday in Nha Trang, Vietnam.
Elisabeth Reynes of Spain was named first runner-up, while Taanusiya Chetty of Malaysia took second runner-up.
Mola succeeds Suchata Chuangsri of Thailand, who made history last year as the first-ever Thai winner of the pageant.
This year’s competition drew attention during the preliminaries when Ugandan delegate Elle Muhoza wore a custom gown titled “The Layers of Life,” designed by Keesha Abdallah.
The outfit represented the seven layers doctors cut through during a C-section: skin, fat, fascia, rectus muscles, peritoneum, uterus muscle and the amniotic sac.

“The concept was inspired by the layers encountered during a C-section and, more broadly, by the extraordinary journey of bringing life into the world,” the designer explained on Instagram.
Last year’s winner, Suchata Chuangsri, 21, accepted her tiara from Miss World 2023, Krystyna Pyszková of the Czech Republic, at the 2025 pageant in Hyderabad, India.
She won out of a field of 108 contestants, with Hasset Dereje Admassu of Ethiopia as first runner-up.
Chuangsri used her title to campaign for breast cancer awareness after a health scare when she discovered a lump in her breast at age 16.
