The Kano State House of Assembly has screened and confirmed six commissioner nominees for appointment to the State Executive Council.
The Speaker, Jibril Ismail Falgore, presided over the screening exercise during plenary.
The exercise followed a motion moved by the Majority Leader, Lawan Hussaini, and seconded by the Minority Leader, Usman Abubakar, seeking the House’s approval to screen and confirm the nominees.
Speaking during plenary, Hussaini said the nominees had met the requirements for appointment as commissioners and members of the State Executive Council.
He said the House was impressed by their expertise and experience, noting that some had previously served as commissioners, while others had held positions such as chairman of the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) and other public offices.

Hussaini added that the confirmation would be communicated to the state executive for the allocation of portfolios to the newly appointed commissioners.
After the screening, Air Commodore Salisu Yusha’u (retd.) said he would work closely with relevant security agencies and local communities to strengthen security and promote peace at the grassroots.
Yusha’u, who described himself as a security expert, said collaboration with stakeholders would be important in addressing security challenges across the state.
A former KANSIEC chairman, Sani Malumfashi, stressed the need to promote science and technology education, innovation and entrepreneurship.
He said these areas were important for equipping residents with practical skills and promoting self-reliance.
