The 2028 Los Angeles Olympics torch relay will visit all 50 US states for the first time in Olympic history, starting in Atlanta, Georgia.
Atlanta, which hosted the last American Summer Games in 1996, will receive the flame by air from Olympia, Greece—the ancient birthplace of the Games—before runners transport it across the country toward California.
The epic nationwide journey will culminate in Los Angeles for the Opening Ceremony on July 14, 2028.

Organisers plan to unveil the full route next year, with the relay scheduled to begin in spring 2028.
“Every Olympic Games begins with a single flame, and carrying that flame to Los Angeles is an honour and privilege that we’ll share with every corner of the country, as Americans in all 50 states carry the flame on its path to our Opening Ceremony,” said LA28 President Casey Wasserman.
The ambitious route surpasses previous American Olympic relays.
The 1996 Atlanta torch relay visited 42 states—and briefly flew into space aboard the Space Shuttle Columbia—while the 1984 Los Angeles Games relay covered 33 states.
The LA28 Olympic Games will run from July 14 to July 30, 2028.
