Liutova Wins WTA Memphis Title

Sixteen-year-old Russian Kristina Liutova captured her first WTA title on Sunday, defeating Czech opponent Darja Vidmanova 1-6, 6-1, 6-3 at the WTA Memphis tournament.

In her debut main-draw appearance, the qualifier shook off a dominant opening set from Vidmanova before taking control in the final two sets, ultimately sealing the victory on her fourth match point with a blistering forehand down the line.

Liutova’s remarkable run from the qualifying rounds included upset victories over top seed Ekaterina Alexandrova and sixth seed Caty McNally.

The victory makes her the youngest player to capture a WTA title since Coco Gauff in 2019, catapulting her world ranking from 714th at the start of the year to a projected career-high of 126th.
