The Makinde-backed faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has vowed that Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike will never become the party’s national leader.
The faction’s remarks follow Wike’s media chat on Wednesday, during which the minister slammed the rival faction and accused it of fraud and deception, while daring them to establish a secretariat and open a bank account.
Ini Ememobong, the faction’s spokesperson, in a statement issued on Wednesday, described Wike’s media chat as a “show of shame” which was “full of sound and fury, signifying nothing”. He urged those whom the minister knocked during the media chat to seek legal action, adding that no one is above the law.
Ememobong also claimed that the faction’s leadership is legitimate, contrary to Wike’s claims. He added that the statement was intended as an apology to Nigerians for previously elevating Wike to positions of authority, including governor and minister.

“As the legitimate leadership of our political party, we sympathise with Wike for the pain concomitant with the realisation that he will not and can never be the National Leader of our party, as no such office exists in our constitution; and even if it did, he, by conduct and speech, would be grossly insufficient to assume such an exalted office,” he said.

IGNORE WIKE’S POLITICAL SWAN SONG
Today, Nigerians were treated to an unsolicited overdosage of political rascality, moral emptiness, crass opportunism, and post-loss trauma by Minister Nyesom Wike.

“We understand his frustration about the commencement of the sale of forms and activities to hold primaries and eventually a national convention where a credible Nigerian will emerge as the Presidential Candidate. This will mean that he has failed in his promise to ‘hold down’ the party for his principal.
Ememobong added that the sale of forms is ongoing, and “there is nothing Wike can do about it”.
Addressing legal issues referenced by the minister, Ememobong said it was awaiting Certified True Copies of judgments relating to dismissed cross-appeals and challenged Wike and his associates to clarify the details publicly.
