Former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami has emerged as the African Democratic Congress governorship candidate for Kebbi State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Malami disclosed this in a statement on Sunday through his Special Assistant on Media, Mohammed Bello Doka, and also announced the party’s senatorial candidates for the state.
“I sincerely appreciate the confidence and support shown by leaders, stakeholders, and supporters of the African Democratic Congress in Kebbi State ahead of the 2027 general elections,” Malami said.
He added that consultations within the party led to the affirmation of candidates for key elective positions in the state.

According to the statement, retired Major General Aminu Bande was affirmed as the senatorial candidate for Kebbi Central, while retired Deputy Comptroller General Ibrahim Muhammad Mera was named for Kebbi North Senatorial District and Garba Danjuma Limi for Kebbi South.
Malami said the party remained committed to “purposeful leadership, good governance, justice, security, and sustainable development for Kebbi State and Nigeria as a whole.”
He also stated that “together, with unity and determination, we shall build a more prosperous future for generations to come.”
Malami, who recently defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress to the ADC, emerged unopposed as the party’s consensus aspirant in the governorship primary. He is expected to challenge Governor Nasir Idris of the APC in the 2027 governorship election.
