Malawi Government has begun repatriating its citizens from South Africa, with the first two buses carrying 150 Malawian nationals departing from the Western Cape Province on Saturday.

According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on Sunday via its official X page, the citizens are part of a voluntary repatriation exercise involving Malawians who were displaced and had sought refuge in temporary camps in Mossel Bay, Western Cape Province.

The ministry stated that the evacuation was carried out with support from a multidisciplinary Malawi Task Team, which was deployed to South Africa under the coordination of the Malawi High Commission.
