Modi Forms Task Force to Reform Exam System

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a special task force on Sunday to overhaul the country’s national examination system following weeks of massive student-led demonstrations.

The announcement came a day after the administration accepted key protest demands and saw the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani will lead the high-powered body, which focuses on leveraging technology to guarantee transparency and restore public trust.

The policy shift follows weeks of intense agitation organised by the youth-driven Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), which mobilised thousands of activists to occupy New Delhi’s Jantar Mantar site.

In a video statement published on X, Modi pledged that his government would rapidly restore the credibility and reliability of upcoming national exams.

Municipal crews moved in Sunday morning to clear the remaining protest encampments, removing graffiti and cleaning roadways where crowds had gathered for weeks to demand administrative accountability.
