Morocco Intercepts Migrants Near Ceuta Border

Moroccan authorities intercepted hundreds of sub-Saharan and Moroccan migrants on Saturday near the border with the Spanish exclave of Ceuta, following a massive influx two weeks earlier.

Security forces arrested 294 individuals during routine operations designed to prevent irregular crossings into the European territory.

Officials deployed extensive security measures around border forests after fresh online disinformation falsely claimed that border checkpoints would open.

Moroccan police recently arrested over 60 people for inciting illegal migration on social media platforms.

The intervention comes shortly after roughly 72,000 migrants crossed into Ceuta within days, leading to widespread pushbacks and human rights groups reporting over 140 deaths during the resulting border chaos.
