The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has dismissed as fake the results of its primary elections in parts of Enugu State circulating on social media.
The party’s National Secretary, Ikenna Morgan, told journalists in Enugu on Sunday that the results being shared online did not originate from the party.
He described the primaries held on Friday as free and fair, adding that the direct primary process allowed eligible party members to vote for their preferred candidates for various elective positions, including the presidency, governorship, senate, house of representatives, and state assembly.
Morgan said the primaries were supervised by the party’s National Electoral Committee from Abuja and monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). According to him, the exercise complied with the provisions of the Electoral Act and the party’s constitution.
“The Nigeria Democratic Congress successfully conducted its primary elections in Enugu State on Friday, May 29, 2026,” Morgan said.
“The process was monitored by our National Electoral Committee and observed by representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

“The exercise was orderly, transparent and conducted in line with the Electoral Act and the constitution of our great party.”
Morgan said the collation and verification of votes had been completed and that the official results remained in the custody of the appropriate party authorities.
“This will only be made public through recognised constitutional channels,” he said.
He cautioned aspirants, party members, and the public against relying on unofficial information circulating on social media, blogs, and other unverified platforms.
“The results of the primary elections have been duly collated by the party,” he added.
“However, contrary to several reports circulating online, no official announcement has yet been made by the National Electoral Committee or the national leadership of the party.
“Any individual or platform claiming to possess or announce official results is acting without authorisation.”
Morgan assured aspirants of transparency, fairness, and due process.
He added that the names of successful candidates would be formally submitted to INEC in compliance with statutory requirements after the completion of internal administrative procedures and ratification processes.
