A Madison Square Garden crowd booed President Donald Trump on Monday as he attended game three of the NBA Finals between the New York Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs.
The crowd jeered the Republican president from the stands when he appeared on the arena’s big screens during the national anthem.
Trump’s high-profile attendance prompted authorities to enforce ultra-tight security measures throughout the historic New York venue.
The Secret Service and hundreds of police officers locked down the surrounding Manhattan area, erecting 10-foot fences and banning fans without tickets within several blocks of the arena.

Officials also banned the popular outdoor watch parties that had drawn jubilant crowds during the first two playoff games.
To protect the president, who has faced three alleged assassination attempts in less than two years, the Secret Service even deployed counter-drone technology.
The heavy security disruption sparked fierce backlash from residents and Democratic lawmakers.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer criticised the president on social media, accusing him of hijacking one of the city’s best moments in decades, while demonstrators lined the streets holding signs that read, “Trump must go.”
All because Donald Trump wanted to make it about himself.
I trust New Yorkers will let him hear how they feel about that. https://t.co/tjw5jigOct

Despite the controversy and the annoying delays, some fans still expressed excitement that the native New Yorker showed up to support the Knicks, who currently hold a 2-0 series lead over the San Antonio Spurs.
