News Central Makes African TV History at UNGA 81

From a bold idea in Nigeria to the centre of global diplomacy in New York, News Central TV is marking another defining chapter in its remarkable journey as it becomes the first African television station to broadcast a full news bulletin live from New York during the 81st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

What began as an ambitious vision to build a modern, pan-African news network has now grown into a newsroom capable of taking Africa’s stories, voices and perspectives to some of the world’s most important stages. And now, from New York, that journey just reached another landmark.

At the 81st UNGA, News Central TV brought audiences a full live bulletin directly from the heart of global diplomacy demonstrating that African journalism can operate at the highest levels of international news coverage, with the ambition, infrastructure, talent and editorial confidence to match.

News Central TV’s evolution has been defined by a willingness to go where the story is. The station has expanded its footprint across Africa, Europe and the Americas and continues to strengthen its live reporting capabilities, investing in world-class journalism and developing a newsroom built for a fast-changing media environment; the station has consistently pushed beyond conventional boundaries.

The New York broadcast represents the latest expression of that ambition coming ahead of the highly anticipated Diasporan Town Hall Meeting in New York on Saturday 26th September 2026.

News Central’s evolution has seen the media organisation grow rapidly through international coverage, investment in technology, expansion of its journalistic talent, and a commitment to telling African stories from an African perspective, all of which have contributed to this moment.
