The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has dismissed reports claiming that there are confirmed cases of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in Nigeria.

In a statement posted on its official X handle on Saturday, the agency described the reports circulating online and offline as false and urged Nigerians to rely only on information from verified sources.

“We wish to clarify: there are currently no confirmed cases of Ebola in Nigeria. Any report stating otherwise is false,” the NCDC said.

The clarification follows growing concerns triggered by unverified reports on social media alleging the presence of Ebola cases in parts of the country. The NCDC urged Nigerians to disregard misinformation and seek updates only through its official communication channels.

“For verified updates, follow our official channels,” the agency said, directing members of the public to its verified accounts on X, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube.

The disease control agency reiterated its commitment to protecting public health and providing timely and accurate information on disease outbreaks and other health emergencies in Nigeria.
