Troops of the Nigerian Armed Forces neutralised over 102 terrorists and criminals across multiple operational theatres in July, according to a report from the Defence Headquarters on Friday.
Director of Defence Media Operations Maj.-Gen. Michael Onoja confirmed during a monthly briefing in Abuja that 57 insurgents surrendered to military forces, while troops rescued 393 kidnapped civilians, arrested 345 suspects, and recovered 59 weapons alongside 1,118 rounds of ammunition.
Operations in the North-East yielded significant results, where troops killed 54 fighters, arrested 102 terrorists, and rescued 102 abductees alongside surrendering insurgents and their families.
In the North-West, troops under Operation Fansan Yamma neutralised 33 fighters, apprehended 66 suspects, and freed 191 kidnapped victims.
Meanwhile, North-Central units killed 15 terrorists, detained 148 suspects, and rescued 53 individuals during the same period.
Southern operations also dismantled criminal networks, with troops in the South-South and South-East jointly rescuing 47 victims and arresting 29 criminal elements.
The military operational report coincides with Nigerian government plans to launch a shared regional security database and deploy drones, CCTV, and advanced surveillance technology to combat persistent kidnapping and violent crime in the South-East.
