The Obi-Kwankwaso Movement has unveiled a 59-member Presidential Campaign Council as it begins preparations for the 2027 general elections.
The council, announced on Thursday, includes zonal and state coordinators as well as directors overseeing key areas such as grassroots mobilisation, women affairs, strategy, security, legal affairs, information technology and administration.
The movement’s Director-General, John Ughulu, will serve as Director-General of the campaign council, while National Secretary Saadatu Sani is also part of the campaign leadership structure.
The council has representation from Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones and the Federal Capital Territory, with coordinators appointed for all 36 states.
Other key appointments include Suleiman Abubakar as North-Central Coordinator, Hashimu Dungurawa for the North-West, Amadu Gwambe for the North-East, Dr Adebayo Adefolaseye for the South-West, Christopher Ighodaro for the South-South, and El-Shaddai Ikeh for the South-East.
The structure also includes Sabo Gashua as Director of Grassroots Mobilisation, Glory Adayi as Director of Women Affairs, Kabir Yahaya as Director of Contact and Engagement, Kingdom Okere as Director of Legal Affairs, Abiodun Dabiri as Director of Strategy and Planning, and Richard Enemona, a retired Commissioner of Police, as Director of Security and Intelligence.
In a message congratulating the newly appointed members, Sani described their roles as a responsibility to take the movement’s message across the country.
“Your selection is not merely an appointment; it is a call to duty, sacrifice, leadership and service to Nigeria,” she said.
She added that members had been entrusted with the task of taking the vision and aspirations of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso “from the cities to the grassroots, from the states to the local governments, and from the wards to every community across the federation.”
Sani said the movement was not built around individuals seeking recognition but around what she described as a broader national vision.
“The OK Movement is not built around individuals seeking personal recognition. It is a movement driven by a larger national vision: to mobilise Nigerians around the possibility of a better, more prosperous, united and functional Nigeria,” she stated.
She urged council members to approach the assignment with discipline, loyalty and commitment, adding that the campaign would require strategic planning, effective communication and grassroots mobilisation.
“Our responsibility is to ensure that the message of our principals reaches every Nigerian and that the voice of the people is heard across the length and breadth of our nation,” Sani said.
The unveiling follows the movement’s earlier decision to remain independent rather than merge with another political organisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
