Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has approved the enrolment of operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun, into the state’s contributory health insurance, pension and social insurance schemes.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by the state Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Idowu Ajanaku.

According to the statement, the decision forms part of efforts by the state government to improve the welfare and productivity of security personnel across the state.

Ajanaku said the initiative was designed to boost the morale of operatives and strengthen their commitment to protecting lives and property in Ondo State.

He added that the governor also approved the issuance of Warrants of Service Enlistment to officers and personnel of the agency pending the completion of the required legal framework.

The initiative by Aiyedatiwa was to boost the morale of security operatives and enhancing their commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state. 

“The governor also approved the issuance of Warrants of Service Enlistment to officers and personnel of the agency pending the completion of the required legal framework,” he said. 

The commissioner noted that the move would further strengthen the institutional structure of the corps and improve its operational efficiency.

He explained that the operatives would now benefit from the contributory pension scheme, the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund and the state’s health insurance scheme, in addition to the life insurance policy already in place for them.

Ajanaku further disclosed that 650 Amotekun operatives had been deployed across the 18 local government areas of the state ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations as part of efforts to maintain security before, during and after the festivities.
