The inauguration of Benin’s new president, Romuald Wadagni, has drawn a wide array of regional dignitaries to the ceremony.

The presence of dignitaries from the country, its neighbours in West Africa and beyond reflects the political significance of the transition of power in the West African country.

The event, held in Cotonou, the capital of the Republic of Benin, has brought together heads of state, senior government officials, and international representatives who gathered to witness the formal swearing-in of the former finance minister as he assumes leadership of the country on Sunday.

The high-level attendance emphasises Benin’s diplomatic ties within the region and the broader international community, as well as growing interest in the country’s political direction under its new administration.
