Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested three suspected members of an armed robbery and carjacking syndicate operating in the Alakuko area of the state.
The command said the suspects were arrested by its operatives following credible intelligence as part of efforts to combat armed robbery, carjacking and other violent crimes across Lagos.
The suspects were identified as 20-year-old Faruk Rasheed, 28-year-old Olamilekan Ademola, and 21-year-old Abidemi Oluwawemo.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the command’s spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, said the suspects were “tracked down and arrested” in Alakuko.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects allegedly specialised in car snatching and robbing innocent citizens of their valuables,” Adebisi said.

She said a search conducted on the suspects led to the recovery of three locally made firearms and eight rounds of live ammunition.
Two of the recovered firearms were locally made pistols loaded with five cartridges, while the third was a locally made revolver pistol loaded with three rounds of 9mm live ammunition.
“The suspects are currently in police custody, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the syndicate,” Adebesi said.
The command said the arrests formed part of its sustained efforts to dismantle criminal networks involved in violent crimes across the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Tijani Fatai, reiterated the command’s “unwavering commitment to dismantling criminal networks and ensuring the safety and security of residents across Lagos State.”
Fatai also encouraged residents to report emergencies and suspicious activities to the police through the command’s emergency lines.
