Russian President Vladimir Putin has said Moscow is not preparing for any conflict with Europe following growing North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) concerns.
Putin made the comments on Friday while speaking to reporters in Saint Petersburg.
He said Russia had no reason to escalate tensions with European countries.

“Many in Europe talk about expecting an attack from Russia and therefore believe they must themselves prepare for hostilities, for a war with Russia,” Putin said.
“I want to emphasise once again: we are not preparing for any kind of hostilities with Europe,” he added.
The comments came after warnings from some European NATO members about possible Russian attacks on alliance territory.
Several European countries supporting Ukraine have also raised concerns about possible covert Russian operations on their soil.
Earlier this month, Germany accused Moscow of planning a drone attack at Leipzig airport in August.
Poland has also warned that Russia could use drones and missiles against countries supporting Ukraine.
Moscow has rejected such accusations.
Meanwhile, Putin said Russia was considering whether to resume peace talks with Ukraine.

He said recent Ukrainian attacks on Russia would be considered before Moscow decides its next steps.
“On proposals to resume negotiations, yes, they are all on the table, and it is all possible — but after everything they’ve done, we will give careful thought to what steps we need to take in response,” Putin said.
The comments come as the war in Ukraine enters its fifth year, with tensions between Russia and European countries remaining high.
