Tunisia coach Hervé Renard has announced he is stepping down after just two matches in charge of the Eagles of Carthage at the 2026 World Cup.
Renard confirmed his decision in an Instagram post on Saturday, saying: “My adventure with Tunisia has come to an end.”
He thanked the Tunisian Football Federation for giving him the opportunity to coach the team at the tournament.
“Before I leave, I would like to express my sincere thanks to the Tunisian Football Federation for allowing me to take part in the 2026 World Cup. It was an honour to represent Tunisia and to have this unforgettable experience,” he wrote.

The 57-year-old French coach was appointed on June 16 to replace Sabri Lamouchi, who was dismissed after Tunisia’s 5-1 defeat to Sweden in their opening World Cup match.
However, Renard was unable to turn things around.
Tunisia lost 4-0 to Japan before suffering a 3-1 defeat to the Netherlands, ending their World Cup campaign at the group stage.
After the team’s elimination, Renard told AFP he had come “for this World Cup” but did not say whether Tunisia had asked him to stay on.
Before joining Tunisia, Renard had managed Saudi Arabia but was dismissed less than two months before the start of the 2026 World Cup.
