Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has nominated Olufunke Omolara Tayo-Makanjuola for appointment as the Acting State Auditor-General.
Her appointment is subject to confirmation by the Lagos State House of Assembly.
The state government announced the nomination in a post shared on X Thursday, saying the appointment takes effect from July 28, 2026.
“Dr. Tayo-Makanjuola nomination for appointment as the Acting State Auditor-General, conveyed through Circular No. CIR/HOS/’26/052 of 28th July 2026, issued by the Office of the Head of Service, takes effect from 28th July, 2026,” the statement read in part.
Before her nomination, Tayo-Makanjuola served as Head of Directorate, Government Accounts, where she earned a reputation for professionalism and commitment to public financial management.
The nominee holds a Doctor of Business Administration in International Business from Lagos State University, an MBA in Human Resource Management from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, a Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Management from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, as well as Higher National Diploma and National Diploma certificates in Accounting from the Polytechnic, Ilaro.

She also possesses an Advanced Diploma in Forensic Accounting and Criminal Intelligence from the University of Lagos.
The Lagos State Government described her as “a highly accomplished finance professional,” noting that she is a Fellow and member of several professional bodies, including the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria, the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, the Chartered Institute of Directors and the Certified Forensic Investigation Professionals (CFIP-USA).”
She had received the Distinguished Woman of Peace and Honour Award from the United Nations Positive Livelihood Award Centre (UN-POLAC) in recognition of her contributions to society.
Expressing confidence in the nominee, the Office of the State Auditor-General said its management and staff were optimistic about her leadership.
“The Management and Staff of the Office of the State Auditor-General congratulate Dr. Tayo-Makanjuola on her well-deserved nomination and express confidence in her ability to provide visionary leadership that will further strengthen accountability, transparency, and excellence in public sector auditing across Lagos State.”
The office also thanked Governor Sanwo-Olu for his confidence in her capacity to lead the Office and advance the State’s commitment to good governance and prudent management of public resources.
If confirmed by the Lagos State House of Assembly, Tayo-Makanjuola will assume responsibility for overseeing the auditing of government accounts, promoting fiscal accountability and ensuring transparency in the management of public funds across the state.
